Proton beam

Laboratory Diagram

The proton beam provided by the cyclotron enters (from the far left of the diagram) and is directed by the "Beam Switching Magnet" to select the desired beam. Since protons are positively charged, they tend to repel each other and spread out over time. Therefore, two sets of "Quadrupole Magnets" are used to focus the protons and guide the proton beam accurately to the irradiation platform. Simultaneously, the "Double Scattering System" expands the point-like proton beam into a large field, while the "Range Modulator" adjusts the penetration depth of the protons, and the "Collimator" controls the field size.
