Department Introduction
The Endocrine system is essential for life in both children and adults. The Department of Pediatric Endocrinology in Chang Gung Memorial Hospital provides medical care for children with all sorts of endocrine problems. This includes children who are too tall or too short for their age, and those with obesity or failure to thrive, diabetes mellitus, thyroid illness (e.g., congenital hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, Hashimoto's thyroiditis, etc.), sexual precocity or premature thelarche, rickets or other osteoporosis illnesses, ambiguous genitalia, hypoglycemia. This department not only provides medical diagnosis and treatment for the children but also provides health education (especially for those with diabetes mellitus) for the patients and their families. Careful diagnosis, appropriate treatment and family education provide those children affected with endocrine disorders with excellent care.
