Department Introduction
From the director:
Since foundation of our division, there are currently 16 full-time attending physicians and 2 part-time attending physicians. With a steady stream of outstanding physicians to join in, it is the potentiality of our division. However, the current environment of TCM is difficult. Therefore it counts on our joint effort to explore new treatment approach, to enhance hospitalization rate for TCM ward, to produce valuable clinical research with SCI publication, to promote cooperation with western medicine department, and to improve the level of TCM quality.
Origin and History:
Due to advances of modern medicine, a variety of new instruments and treatment approaches come out day by day. In order to maintain the high quality of medical services and to promote the heritage of traditional Chinese medical experience and to improve the integration with modern medicine, we founded the first Chinese Medicine Hospital in the scale of medical center.
Since foundation, our hospital has gained remarkable academic reputation in Taiwan. To look back, our founding director, Dr. Sien-Hung Yang, led us through the pioneering stage and difficult days. Later on, under the leading of the directors, Dr. Yi-Hong Wu, Dr. Jong-Jen Kuo and Dr. Jiun-Liang Chen, we have promoted clinical services continuously such as community service, charity clinic at mountain village, lectures, teaching, and researches.
Thanks for the efforts of the past decades, the residency training program has becoming more completed, and a lot of resident doctors has come back to our division for subspecialty service after finishing the training of western medicine department. Therefore, we have enough and competent doctors to support clinical service and teaching tasks.
We have laid much emphasis on the specific disease treatment and interdisciplinary cooperation with western medicine. We highly respect the expertise of physicians, and we also encourage them to develop freely and to collaborate with each other. In addition to clinical services, we greatly encourage medical publication, and all kinds of research proposals are welcomed. In the future, we will keep make effort for the progress of TCM, so that we are worthy of the name of medical center.
The Future:
We hold joint seminars with other experts from other departments of modern medicine, in order to build on our strengths. Therefore, cross-sectoral and interdisciplinary integrated research programs with rheumatology, oncology, nephrology, geriatrics, psychiatry, and dermatology were established. We are advancing towards new medical technology and specialty medical care, as well as basic and clinical research and education, to make contribution in scientification, internationalization, globalization, and evidence-based future trend of TCM development.
