Department Introduction

The department start to function in December 1976 when Taipei branch of Chang Gung Memorial Hospital was founded in 1976. The main laboratory in Lin-Kou branch of the Chang Gung Memorial Hospital was established in December 1978. The Department of Laboratory Medicine provides laboratory services with more than 520 test, including Stat Chemistry, Clinical Microscopy, Clinical Hematology, Clinical Chemistry and Special Chemistry, Blood Bank and Transfusion Services, Clinical Microbiology, Clinical Virology, Clinical Serology and Immunology, Phlebotomy, and Molecular Diagnosis etc, to both Taipei and Lin-Kou branches of CGMH. In addition to routine laboratory services, the Department, in collaboration with Chang Gung University, also provides functions in following areas:
(1) Clinical Virology Research Center
(2) Prenatal Diagnosis of Hereditary Disease
(3) Trace Metal
(4) Molecular Diagnosis, including prenatal diagnosis of hereditary diseases, molecular diagnosis of infectious diseases, molecular diagnosis in neoplasltic disease, and molecular diagnosis in transfusion medicine and transplantation.
