Department Introduction

Section of Uro-oncology was first established in February 2004, currently our urologist staff are Dr. CK Chuang , Dr. See-Tong Pang , Dr. YH Chang , Dr. KJ Yu　and Dr. PH Lin, Dr. CY Liu . This section is currently leaded by Dr. YH Chang. We are not only providing the best clinical services to our patients, we are also strongly interested in the study of the pathogenesis of urological cancers. Dr. CK Chuang obtained his PhD degree from Chang Gung University and Dr. ST Pang completed his PhD study in 2003 at the Karolinska Institute. Togather, we have set up an urology research laboratory, our goal is to understand the pathogenesis and develop new treatment methods for our urological patients.

1. Research interest and strength:
We are able to use the latest genomics research tools such as DNA microarray (Nimblegen system), FISH and SKY to analyze the genomic alterations among urological cancers. Besides, Dr CK Chuang is interested in the study of DNA methylation in prostate cancer.　Our lab has established close collaboration works with researchers in Taiwan, USA and Sweden.

2. Major Clinical services:
We provide all kind of treatment modality to suit our patients’ need. We are expertise in these procedures: Laparoscopic surgery, robotic surgery (da Vinci’s system), cryosurgery, High dose rate radiation therapy.

3. Patient education:
We help our patients and their family to understand their disease and deal with all kind of physical and mental need through activities organized by both physician and social worker.
